Our traditional ‘After Christmas Walk’ has taken place for quite a few years in different areas and is quite popular, especially if the weather is suitable. However, due to an aging membership, numbers have dropped, year on year. We have been using the Red Shoot Inn for last few years because of its proximity in the New Forest and it is quite a warm, welcoming pub. It publicises that they ‘Don’t mind muddy boots and dogs.’ Plus, the food is quite good.
The walk is approximately 3-mile circuit taking us very close to another popular pub called the High Corner Inn. Most of the walk is on gravel paths, however there are parts that do get quite muddy. Every year since we started using the route, Philip and I have to make time to go and prune the undergrowth back in certain area, before the walk takes place. For members just joining for lunch, please arrive at 12.00 noon.
